President Jalal Talabani discuss the situation in Iraq with the U.S. Ambassador James Jeffrey, who conveyed a message of congratulations from U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle and the rest of his family members to President Talabani and his family precious occasion of his return from a trip of treatment.

He said a presidential statement that Taliani received Monday evening in the meeting, Ambassador Jeffrey was talking about the general situation in the country and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States to serve the common interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries.

Emphasis was placed on the continuation of the efforts that would solve the problems and calm the situation in Iraq and the success of the national conference to be held in the coming period between the political forces.

He commended the U.S. ambassador to the efforts of President Talabani of Iraq to reunite him and wished to continue this role to bring the views of political parties in accordance with the Constitution and to serve the political process in Iraq.

President Talabani welcomed the Ambassador Jeffrey decision of the coalition in Iraq to return to attend the meetings of the Council of Representatives, considering this decision a positive step. / End

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has reiterated its position, calling for the shifting of the trial of its leading element and Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, charged with “terrorist” operations by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to Kurdistan Region, where he moved to after his charge last week, according to al-Iraqiya statement on Saturday.

The statement also rejected Prime Minister Hashimy’s decision to sack its other leading element, Saleh al-Mutlaq, from his post as Deputy Prime Minister, considering it as illegal.

The 10-article statement stressed that “al-Iraqiya, stemming from its feeling of the significance of the political process and the national unity, expressed rejoice for the withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq, being an important step to restore its sovereignty.”

The statement also “condemned the criminal and terrorist operations that pinpointed the Iraqi people, in all its components,” expressing its support, together with all its partners in fighting terrorism,” in a hint for the series of attacks that struck Baghdad on Thursday, killing and wounding dozens of people.”

As regards to the case of Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, al-Iraqiya’s statement said: “despite our confidence that Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, one of the symbols of the political process in Iraq, who had exerted huge sacrifices for it, is innocent, but we believe it is necessary for the Judiciary to move his case to Kurdistan Region, according to Article 56 of the Law.”

“Such step would secure carrying out the investigation, away from political pressures, especially after putting the confessions of defendants on the mass media, thing that stands counter to the law, because it would create a pressing publish opinion that would affect the course of investigations,” the statement said, calling on “Partners in the Political Process to stop using the language of blackmailing, through alleged dossiers, that only reflects political pressures.”

Al-Iraqiya Coalition had presented a memorandum to the Parliament Speaker’s Commission last Wednesday, demanding the withdrawal of trust from Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, in the background of the crisis of the issue of Hashimy’s arrest demand and Maliki’s other demand for the Parliament to withdraw trust from his Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, the other leader in al-Iraqiya Coalition.

BAGHDAD – Uday Hatem: the rejection of the «coalition rule of law», led by Prime
Minister Nuri al-Maliki asked the Kurdish regional President Massoud Barzani, to
withdraw the draft law of oil and gas provided by the Government to Parliament
recently, saying his goal of «export an internal crisis» in the region.

A day after the government accusing Barzani as «is trying to build an
economic dictatorship» and «Minister Kurds were subjected to deception», called
the Kurdistan Regional Government headed by Barham Salih, who will visit Baghdad
in the coming days, the central government withdrew the draft law of oil and
gas. But the «coalition rule of law» refused to do so wondering: «Where was the
authority to Barzani, the region or to the Government to impose the dictates and
demands on the federal government».

The MP said Yassin Majid told «life»
that «the accusations made by Barzani’s sudden and dramatic surprise»,

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s National Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, has rejected some of the articles of the draft-law for the National Council of Strategic Policies (NCSP), a Legislature for al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by Iyad Allawi, said on Thursday.

“The NCSP’s draft-law had faced several objections by the National Coalition, including 9 articles, including one on voting on the assignment of the NCSP’s proposed Chief inside the Parliament,” the Parliament’s Rapporteur and al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Legislature, Mohammed al-Khalidy, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He said that the number of NCSP’s members would be 20, “including the President, his two Vice-Presidents, the Prime Minister and his Deputy Prime- Ministers, the Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council, as well as representatives of the Political Blocs,” adding that the NCSP’s decisions would be “compulsory, in the event of scoring 75% of the Parliament votes.”

Differences have taken place between al-Iraqiya Coalition and the National Coalition about some of the articles of Arbil Agreement, initiated by Kurdistan Region’s President, Massoud Barzani, including the NCSP’s draft-law, along with the mechanism of the assignment of its chairman, his authorities and his designation, whether it would be the NCSP’s Secretary-General or the Chairman of its Chairman.
