23/04/2012 10:52 BAGHDAD, April 23 (AKnews) – The State of Law Coalition (SLC) led by the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki today accused the leader of Iraqiya List Ayad Allawi of following a plan to seize power that he used during the former regime.

Coalition leader Mohammed Saihoud said: “Accusing PM Maliki of dictatorship is untrue and they [Iraqiya] know that but they accuse him of different charges all the time.

“Why isn’t Iraqiya called tyrannical in the cabinet, as it holds nine votes while SLC has only four votes?”

Allawi attacked Maliki yesterday, stating that the extension of the third term in office is a “monopoly of power and an entrenchment of dictatorship”. Allawi added that such a move would divide the country on a sectarian basis.

Allawi said in a press statement that “the country began to slide back toward dangerous individual rule that will no doubt lead to comprehensive dictatorship”.

Criticism between the two sides escalated after the issuance of an arrest warrant against Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, a senior leader in Iraqiya List, and the sacking of Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq from his office. Mutlaq is also a senior leader in Iraqiya.
